IU postpones 2026 concerts and 6th full album release due to worsening health condition

Singer and actress IU is postponing her scheduled concerts and upcoming album release due to health concerns. On July 21, her agency EDAM Entertainment announced, "We have decided to adjust the schedule for the concerts following the Goyang Stadium performance that had been planned for September, as well as the release schedule for IU's 6th full-length album." The decision was made after IU's chronic patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction worsened. The condition occurs when the Eustachian tube, which connects the middle ear to the back of the nose, remains abnormally open, causing persistent discomfort and hearing-related symptoms. Her agency explained, "The artist's condition is not severe enough to interfere with her daily life. However, this decision was made so she can present her performances in the best possible condition." The company added, "We will fully support the artist's recovery and do our best to ensure IU can return to her fans in good health." IU also personally addressed her condition through the fan communication platform Berriz, revealing that the Goyang Stadium concert could no longer move forward. "The symptoms of my patulous Eustachian tube dysfunction have been getting worse," she shared. "The symptoms continue day and night, and I keep finding it difficult to regain my vocal condition whenever I sing." Although she has already completed recording her new album, IU explained that performing live is currently another matter. "My daily life isn't greatly affected, but I've been told that holding concerts for the time being would be too much," she said. She expressed regret over being unable to fulfill her promise to fans. She explained, "My heart feels heavy, and I'm so sorry that I don't think I'll be able to keep my promise of holding concerts with my 8th-generation fan club members during this period." In addition to the Goyang Stadium concert, her nationwide tour has also been postponed, and the release of her 6th full-length album will be delayed. "I'm more sorry than I can express with just the words 'I'm sorry,'" she apologized once again. IU reassured fans that she would return as soon as possible and shared, "I'll do everything I can to make sure the wait isn't too long and bring my new album and performances to UAENA as quickly as possible." She concluded with a hopeful message for next year. She wrote, "I'll continue receiving treatment, take every possible measure, and focus on recovering my condition so we can definitely begin 2027 together." Meanwhile, IU remains engaged in ongoing legal action against malicious commenters. She recently filed a discovery request in a U.S. court to identify anonymous individuals behind defamatory online posts.
