ILLIT teams up with top Japanese hitmakers for new single

ILLIT is aiming for another major hit in Japan by collaborating with some of the country’s most sought-after songwriters and producers for its second Japanese single, 'I Got Your Back'.

According to BELIFT LAB on July 18 KST, the release will feature three tracks: the title song “I Got Your Back,” a Korean version of the title track available exclusively on the physical album, and “Sunday Morning,” which previously served as the opening theme for Season 2 of the TV anime ’Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess.

The title track boasts an impressive creative lineup. Japanese singer-songwriter Yuika, best known for her viral hit “Sukidakara.” (好きだから。), wrote the lyrics, capturing ILLIT’s signature youthful charm and emotional storytelling.

The song was composed by renowned producer Kanata Okajima, who has worked with global artists including BTS and Snow Man. His collaboration with ILLIT is expected to deliver a dynamic rock-inspired sound while highlighting the group’s distinctive musical identity.

“I Got Your Back” is a rock track that conveys a heartfelt message of support for a friend who stands by your side through moments of anxiety and pressure. Through the song, ILLIT delivers the reassuring message, “You’re not alone,” with the group’s bright and sincere vocals.

A preview of the track, released across social media on July 17, has already generated excitement among fans thanks to its catchy melody, raising anticipation for the full release.

The digital version of "I Got Your Back" will be released on July 26, followed by the physical album on July 29.

Ahead of the release, ILLIT is meeting fans through ILLIT LIVE ‘PRESS START♥’ in JAPAN, taking place on July 18 and 19 at GLION ARENA KOBE in Hyogo. The tour, which spans five Japanese cities, sold out all seats in advance, with additional restricted-view and standing tickets opened due to overwhelming demand, reflecting the group’s growing popularity in Japan.
