BABYMONSTER took over 'Summer Sonic' for the third consecutive year with an overwhelming live performance, drawing a fervent response from local fans.
BABYMONSTER took the Marine Stage, the main stage of 'SUMMER SONIC 2026,' held on the 14th at ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba, Japan. Continuing their tie with the festival for a third straight year, this was their first time on the main stage of the Chiba show, making their heightened local standing palpable.
Their steep rise in local popularity was clear even before the show. Amid continued praise on various social media for last year's performance and reactions awaiting this year's stage, a huge crowd rushed to the front of the stage as BABYMONSTER appeared, making their strong local popularity tangible. It is said that local officials also expressed surprise at the greater-than-expected heat.
Appearing amid bursting cheers, BABYMONSTER opened powerfully with "WE GO UP." Starting with the song that hit No. 1 on the Oricon album chart on its release day, they drew an enthusiastic response from the start, and went on to show ever-changing charms with "CHOOM," "MOON," and "Really Like You." On "DRIP," which has surpassed a cumulative 100 million streams on Oricon, a sing-along erupted from the audience, bringing the mood to its peak. They then presented YG-style summer songs in a row, including "FOREVER," "I LIKE IT," "HOT SAUCE," and "SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA," lifting the heat of the midsummer festival.
Their flawless hand-mic live and overwhelming command of the stage stood out above all. BABYMONSTER poured out energy with refreshing vocals and powerful rap, and imprinted a presence befitting strong live performers with a skilled stage manner, roaming every corner of the stage and making eye contact with the audience. After racing through a total of 11 songs over about 50 minutes, the members said, "We are glad and grateful to be able to show a live performance on such a wonderful stage. We hope it becomes the best memory of this summer."
The fervent popularity in Japan continues on the world tour as well. All five Japanese arena city stops of their second world tour '2026-27 BABYMONSTER WORLD TOUR [CHOOM]' in Kobe, Fukuoka, Yokohama, Chiba, and Nagoya sold out, proving powerful ticket power. Buoyed by this heat, on September 22 and 23 they will enter Kyocera Dome Osaka for the first time since debut to cap off their Japan tour. They will then continue a wide-ranging run, meeting global fans across a total of five continents.
