AKMU's Suhyun joins 'J-POP REMAKE' as third featured vocalist

AKMU's Suhyun has officially joined the 'J-POP REMAKE' project as its third featured vocalist, adding to the growing interest among fans of both K-pop and J-pop.

According to industry insiders, Suhyun completed recording for her track after being selected as the next artist in the series. The project, which began in June, has already attracted attention for its high-profile lineup and creative reinterpretations of Japanese mega-hits.

'J-POP REMAKE' brings together leading Korean vocalists to reimagine some of Japan's most beloved hit songs. The first release featured Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, who covered "Banquet Song," originally by Japanese artist Tsuki. Taeyeon's version quickly soared to the top of domestic music charts after its release, with the music video featuring appearances from Lycenne's Won and Minami sparking additional interest.

Following Taeyeon, Han Roro took on the project's second song, delivering a fresh take on "A Cruel Angel's Thesis," the iconic 1995 theme from the TV series 'Neon Genesis Evangelion,' originally performed by Takahashi Yoko. Both releases have maintained popularity, highlighting the project's appeal among music fans.

Suhyun's participation as the third featured vocalist raises expectations for the next chapter in the series. Known for her impressive vocal range and emotional expressiveness, Suhyun is expected to bring her own style to the project. Details about which song she will cover have not been disclosed.

This new appearance comes as Suhyun continues to make waves following AKMU's recent transition to their own label, Younggam's Fountain, after leaving YG Entertainment earlier this year. In April, AKMU released their first full-length album in seven years, 'Bloom,' with the title track "Joy, Sorrow, Beautiful Mind" topping Korean music charts and reaffirming their status as digital chart leaders.

The 'J-POP REMAKE' project is the brainchild of singer and entertainer Kangnam. It aims to reinterpret iconic Japanese songs through the unique musical colors of leading Korean artists, while preserving the emotion and charm of the original tracks. Each release has highlighted the distinct artistry of its vocalist, keeping fans keen for what comes next.

With Suhyun joining the lineup after Taeyeon and Han Roro, the project continues to draw attention for its strong lineup of female vocalists. The series' next release, featuring Suhyun's voice, is already generating excitement among listeners awaiting her interpretation of a Japanese classic.

The exact release date and song choice for Suhyun's track have not yet been announced.
