AKMU’s Lee Suhyun is set to put her own spin on the Japanese classic “Blue Lagoon.”
Lee Suhyun’s remake of “Blue Lagoon” will be released on various music streaming platforms on August 18 at 6 PM KST. A music video starring actress Shin Si Ah will also be unveiled alongside the track.

Originally released by Japanese singer Seiko Matsuda in 1980, “Blue Lagoon” has remained one of her signature songs for decades. The track also drew renewed attention among K-pop fans after NewJeans’ Hanni performed a cover during the group’s Tokyo Dome fan meeting in June 2024.
Ahead of the release, a music video teaser featuring Lee Suhyun’s version was revealed on August 17 through Kangnam’s official YouTube channel 'Neighborhood Friend Kangnami'.
The teaser highlighted Lee Suhyun’s clear and warm vocals, offering a delicate new interpretation of the original song’s refreshing and nostalgic atmosphere.
The remake is the latest release from the 'J-POP REMAKE' project, a series planned by singer and television personality Kangnam.
Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon previously participated in the project’s first release, “Bansanka,” followed by singer-songwriter HANRORO with “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis.”
With Lee Suhyun now taking on “Blue Lagoon,” attention is focused on how her distinctive vocal tone will reshape the beloved Japanese classic for a new generation of listeners.
