Wendy's agency to take legal action against malicious comments

Red Velvet's Wendy has become the focus of public discussion as her agency ASND declared a firm stance against malicious online comments, especially those targeting her appearance and involving sexual harassment.

On August 19, ASND issued an official statement through social media, referencing a previous notice from April that warned of strict action against slander, false information, defamation, and sexual harassment directed at its artists.

Despite these earlier warnings, the company reported that it continues to find posts and comments online that maliciously evaluate or demean Wendy's appearance and body. The agency noted a persistent pattern of sexually objectifying and harassing remarks, as well as posts ridiculing or insulting her physical features.

ASND stressed that acts such as sexually commenting on or evaluating the artist's body, mocking or belittling her appearance, and spreading false information with malicious intent are clear violations of Wendy's dignity and rights. The agency stated that these actions cannot be considered mere opinions or freedom of expression, but instead constitute clear defamation.

The agency clarified its approach, stating that it is currently collecting evidence of all such posts and comments, including both those already identified and any that may arise in the future. ASND pledged to respond actively to any acts that infringe on the artist's rights, regardless of the severity.

In addition, ASND promised ongoing monitoring for malicious activity and reaffirmed its commitment to take all necessary legal steps to protect the personality and rights of its artists.

Recently, online discussions about Wendy's changing appearance have drawn a range of reactions, with some comments crossing the line into inappropriate evaluations and sexual harassment.
