TVXQ's U-Know Yunho appears on MBC's 'Radio Star' on July 15 at 10:30 PM KST, where he opens up about his first solo concert and the odd second life his 2021 track "Thank U" has found online.
The solo concert lands 23 years after his debut. Yunho said he started sketching out the staging during his military service, working through the structure of the show and what he wanted it to say over a long stretch of preparation. His first solo single arrives on the 20th.
"Thank U" is the other story. The 2021 song caught a sudden wave four years on, carried by the viral 'lesson meme', and its listenership jumped 56-fold. The run also handed Yunho a new nickname: 'Lesson Uncle'.
He credits Rain for helping him make sense of it. The senior artist, who has been through his own viral revival with older hits, gave him practical advice that Yunho said changed how he thinks about memes and songs finding a second audience through them.
Yunho also touches on his acting work during the episode, which airs tonight on MBC.
