The dispute surrounding actor Hong Min Ki's alleged dating violence has intensified. As his agency and his former girlfriend continue to present conflicting accounts, the controversy has grown further, with even a fan posting a lengthy declaration announcing that they are no longer supporting the actor.
Hong Min Ki's agency, Fable Company, released an official statement on August 19, directly addressing and refuting the allegations of dating violence made by his former girlfriend, identified as 'A.'
The agency stated, "The actor has refrained from publicly responding or taking legal action as much as possible, hoping that his relationship with A, which stemmed from a private matter, could be resolved amicably." However, it added, "The content 'A' released contains numerous claims that differ from the facts as we have confirmed them."
According to the agency, Hong Min Ki and 'A' began dating around April 2026. During their relationship, however, the agency said it discovered that 'A' had continued to communicate with her former boyfriend. The agency claimed that Hong Min Ki determined the trust between them could not be restored and repeatedly made it clear that he no longer wished to continue their relationship.
The agency claimed that the situation escalated after Hong Min Ki told 'A' that he wanted to end the relationship. According to the agency, 'A' repeatedly contacted him and visited him despite his wishes, demanding that they get back together. The agency further alleged that around 1 AM on August 19, 'A' went to Hong Min Ki's home and continued ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door until approximately 4 AM. It also claimed that CCTV footage showed 'A' placing a sticker over the camera at the entrance to prevent herself from being recorded before kicking the front door.
The agency also alleged that 'A' pressured Hong Min Ki by emphasizing that his public image and reputation as an actor were important. According to the agency, she made statements during a phone call including, "It's not about what's true or not. I'm just going to sue you. Once I file a lawsuit, you're going to be f**ked," "You have a lot to lose," "(Even if you) never cursed at me, the truth doesn't matter," and "Once the trial starts, there's nothing you can do anyway."
The agency said it plans to take legal action under laws related to stalking over A's repeated unwanted contact and visits. It also stated that it would pursue all necessary civil and criminal measures, including defamation claims, over what it described as the public dissemination of false information that damaged Hong Min Ki's reputation.
Following the agency's statement, 'A' immediately responded with her own account. In a lengthy post on social media, she wrote, "I just saw the statement released by Hong Min Ki's side," before denying the agency's allegations.
'A' stated, "The claim that I went to his home [stalking him] or demanded that he take me back is not true." She added, "I only asked for a minimal apology, but I don't think it's right to silence someone like this and subject them to secondary harm."
'A' also denied the agency's claim that she had maintained contact with her former boyfriend during her relationship with Hong Min Ki. She said it was "not true," explaining that during their relationship, which began in April, they had "many instances of jealousy, misunderstandings and arguments that other couples might also experience."
Most notably, 'A' claimed in her post that she became pregnant during the relationship and underwent an abortion. She added that she still has medical records and ultrasound images from the time.
A claimed that even after the procedure, Hong Min Ki asked to end the relationship and said, "I can't take care of you." She alleged that he ignored her plea, "Please take responsibility for me at least until my body is okay," and abruptly cut off communication.
According to 'A,' the resulting despair eventually turned into anger, leading her to visit Hong Min Ki's home. However, she objected to the characterization of her actions as stalking.
"Hong Min Ki avoided responsibility by remaining silent when I said, 'Please help me, I'm in pain, I feel like I'm going to die.' Is this stalking?" she asked.
A, who said she is currently a first-year university student, also claimed that she continues to suffer from aftereffects of the abortion ahead of the start of the new semester. She described the agency's response as "secondary harm" and announced that she would also respond with legal action through an attorney.
The controversy has also spread within Hong Min Ki's fandom.
After A made additional allegations suggesting that Hong Min Ki had belittled people around him as well as his fans, one individual who identified themselves as a Hong Min Ki fan posted a lengthy "declaration of leaving the fandom" on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The fan criticized what they described as rude behavior they had experienced at offline events such as birthday cafes, as well as disparaging remarks allegedly directed toward fans.
"I can't think of anything other than that what was going to come out finally came out," the fan wrote, strongly criticizing the actor.
Fable Company has reportedly not yet issued a separate response regarding these claims involving fans and is currently reviewing the situation.
Meanwhile, Hong Min Ki made his acting debut in 2020 and has appeared in 'Night Has Come,' 'Love Your Enemy,' 'Study Group,' and 'Trigger.' This year, he has drawn attention for his prominent roles in 'To My Beloved Thief' and 'Doctor on the Edge.' His upcoming project, 'Study Group Season 2,' is reportedly already completed filming.
