The woman identified as 'A,' age 41, who is accused of stalking actor Hwang Jung Min, has been handed a prosecutorial request for a 10 million KRW (approx. 7,080 USD) fine. 'A' had previously received a summary order imposing a 3 million KRW (approx. 2,124 USD) fine. The Uijeongbu District Court’s Goyang Branch, Criminal Division 4 (Presiding Judge Kim Young Ah), held the final hearing in A’s case. A is charged with violating South Korea’s Stalking Punishment Act. On August 11, prosecutors requested a 10 million KRW fine. Prosecutors cited several reasons for the requested penalty, including the lengthy duration of the alleged offenses, the excessive number of attempts to contact Hwang Jung Min, A’s alleged posting of threatening messages on social media, and Hwang Jung Min’s request for severe punishment. 'A' has maintained a claim of innocence, arguing that the communication between the two was not entirely one-sided. During the defendant’s final statement, A acknowledged that “some of my actions were wrong” but maintained that “this was not one-sided stalking.” A continued, “There were moments when my emotions broke down, and I did things I shouldn’t have done.” However, A added, “This is completely different from being a stalker who followed one person around for two years.” A also asked the court to carefully review the case records, saying, “Please look at who contacted whom first, what was said between us, and what promises were made, based on what is recorded in the case documents.” Hwang Jung Min’s side initially filed a complaint against 'A' in August of last year. In February, the court issued a summary order imposing a 3 million KRW fine. 'A' objected to the order and requested a formal trial. 'A' also filed a civil lawsuit seeking more than 200 million KRW (approx. 141,545 USD)against Hwang Jung Min. Meanwhile, the court is scheduled to deliver its verdict in A’s case at 10 AM on September 8.
