Singer-turned-lawyer Lee So Eun has opened up about pursuing another creative challenge: writing a family musical.
On August 23, Lee So Eun appeared alongside singer Lee Juck in a video filmed in New York for Jung Jae Hyung’s YouTube channel, ‘Fairy Jae Hyung’. During their reunion, Jung Jae Hyung asked Lee So Eun about her current work.
“I do many different things,” she replied, explaining that she writes columns related to law and legal media. She then revealed, “Not many people know this yet, but I wrote a family musical.”
The project is ‘Battery Mom’, a stage adaptation of the popular children’s picture book of the same name and a follow-up to the family musical ‘Battery Dad’. The story follows a daycare teacher and Battery Mom while offering a message of encouragement to mothers who give their best each day.
Lee So Eun, who is also a mother, drew on her personal experiences and interest in children’s media while developing the script. The production is scheduled to run from January 2 through February 28, 2027, at Ewha Womans University’s ECC Youngsan Theater.
Speaking about her unconventional career path, Lee So Eun said she no longer believes people must devote themselves to only one field. “The world is changing so quickly,” she explained. “I don’t think we need to live under the pressure of deciding, ‘This is the only path I must follow.’ I think it is better to pursue what you want while continuing to work at it sincerely and consistently.”
Lee So Eun debuted as a singer in 1998 and later left Korea to attend law school in the United States. After qualifying as a New York attorney, she continued expanding her career through law, writing, music, and cultural projects.
