NCT 127 and NCT Dream have recently strengthened their relationship with SM Entertainment by completing their contract renewals. This move highlights the strong trust and teamwork built over the past decade and marks a new chapter for the group's future.
On July 15, members of NCT 127 including Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, and Haechan finalized their recontracts with SM. The agency pointed out that the solid teamwork among the members and deep trust with the company formed the basis for this renewed agreement.
On August 20, NCT Dream completed full recontracts with SM Entertainment. Alongside the previously recontracted Haechan, members Renjun, Jeno, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung expressed their strong affection for the team and confidence in continuing their journey with SM.
The consecutive contract renewals by these two teams emphasize the firm unity within the NCT brand. Since their debut in 2016, NCT has operated under a unique concept of multiple teams, each with distinct styles and identities. NCT 127 and NCT Dream have been key pillars driving the brand’s growth during its first ten years.
NCT 127 has developed a unique sound with experimental neo music and powerful performances, earning a reputation for their dynamic stage presence. Meanwhile, NCT Dream started as a youthful dream-themed unit and evolved into a group that connects with themes of youth, struggles, and empathy, adding richness to the brand’s musical diversity.
By renewing their contracts back-to-back, the two teams show their strong mutual trust and affection, as well as a long-term commitment to working with SM Entertainment. This signals promising plans to expand the NCT brand in the years ahead.
Looking forward, NCT 127 plans to release their seventh full-length album 'BLINGY' on June 24. This comeback will be their first since recontracting, featuring five members while Doyoung and Jungwoo are fulfilling military service. Fans anticipate this release as a strong step toward the group's full seven-member reunion expected next year.
NCT Dream will celebrate their 10th anniversary with a fan meeting on June 22 and 23. They are also preparing a new album aiming for a comeback in the fourth quarter of this year, continuing to build on their youthful and empathetic musical identity.
These recontracts not only reinforce the members’ trust and affection for their teams but also highlight SM Entertainment’s commitment to nurturing NCT’s evolving legacy. The upcoming activities from both groups will be key milestones as NCT embarks on its next decade.
