Girls' Generation's Yuri is parting ways with SM Entertainment after 19 years, the agency announced on July 31.
According to SM Entertainment, both parties agreed to end the exclusive contract on August 31 following thorough discussions. The agency expressed gratitude for Yuri's role in the global K-pop wave as a member of Girls' Generation since her debut in 2007.
Despite the contract's expiration, Yuri will continue to participate in Girls' Generation group activities. SM emphasized that her departure will not affect the group's future plans.
Yuri is the latest Girls' Generation member to leave SM, following Sooyoung, Tiffany, and Seohyun in 2017, and Jessica in 2014. Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, and Yoona had remained with the agency until recently.
