G-Dragon will mark his birthday with a major initiative supporting 50 young artists, backed by a 500 million KRW (approximately 353,000 USD) donation from his agency.
According to the JusPeace Foundation and Galaxy Corporation on August 14 KST, the organizations will hold 'JUSPEACE DAY 50' at Galaxy Robot Park in Seoul on August 18, G-Dragon’s birthday.
The project grew out of G-Dragon’s longstanding commitment to creating more opportunities for artists and supporting future generations. G-Dragon currently serves as honorary chairman of the JusPeace Foundation.
Galaxy Corporation is joining the initiative by donating 500 million KRW to the foundation and providing exhibition space inside Galaxy Robot Park, allowing works by emerging artists to reach a wider audience.
The collaboration is particularly meaningful in that G-Dragon’s agency is investing directly in putting the artist’s vision for social contribution into practice.
The JusPeace Foundation has been discovering emerging artists through several initiatives, beginning with its SOP open call for new artists last December and continuing with projects including LOOP PLUS Busan and JUSPEACE FOCUS at the BAC Art Fair.
Through those efforts, 50 young artists were ultimately selected to receive support through the new project. Their works will be backed by Galaxy Corporation’s 500 million KRW contribution and permanently exhibited throughout Galaxy Robot Park.
The venue is therefore expected to expand beyond its role as a space for experiencing future technologies such as robotics and artificial intelligence, developing into a cultural venue where emerging artists can continuously present their work to the public.
JUSPEACE DAY 50 will also feature a “Wall of Hope,” where visitors can discover artists and works that resonate with them and leave messages of encouragement.
Selected artworks will additionally be offered through a charity auction. Proceeds from the auction will be reinvested into public-interest initiatives supporting the next generation of artists, creating a cycle in which support for emerging creators helps fund future opportunities.
Oh Hee Young, head of the JusPeace Foundation, emphasized the importance of providing young artists with platforms for exposure.
“One of the forms of support young artists need most is the opportunity for their work to meet the world,” she said.
