Forestella's Cho Mingyu is set to return with his second solo EP 'Sweet Escape' on September 10, nearly four years and nine months after his last solo album. Fans are eager for his comeback, especially with the promise of new music and performances.
On August 20, Cho Mingyu announced the upcoming release through his official social media, sharing the phrase “My Sweet Escape” along with the album's title and release date. He also revealed the cover image, which shows him surrounded by a giant teapot, cupcake, and pie on a pastel blue backdrop, creating a whimsical and fairy-tale atmosphere that hints at the album's playful concept.
'Sweet Escape' marks Cho Mingyu's first solo EP since 'Shinsegae: Parana', which came out in December 2021. Over the past several years, he has balanced digital single releases and group activities with Forestella. This new album aims to feature his expanded solo musical world and evolving artistry.
The EP is described as a jazz-pop album rooted in bossa nova, and will include a total of seven tracks. Cho Mingyu took part as a co-producer, working with composer Hwang Sungje’s production team Butterfly. Through this collaboration, he was able to incorporate his personal musical taste and unique style into the album.
Known as the leader and vocalist of Forestella, Cho Mingyu has consistently contributed to writing and composing his solo music. For 'Sweet Escape', he plans to present a deeper emotional range and a broader musical spectrum, building on his reputation for creative involvement.
The new album’s story will continue on stage. Cho Mingyu will hold a solo concert series titled 'Mono Drama 2026: Sweet Escape' on September 19 and 20, sharing the same name as his new EP. Fans are already curious to see how the new songs will be brought to life in concert.
In the lead-up to the new release, Cho Mingyu will also share last year's concert footage through his official YouTube channel. From August 24 to September 7, he will release a new performance video every Monday at 8 p.m., continuing the tradition of connecting with fans online through concert content.
The second EP 'Sweet Escape' will be available on major music platforms starting September 10 at 6 p.m. Fans can expect a blend of jazz-pop influences and a fresh side of Cho Mingyu's solo artistry.
