BIGBANG is taking its name quite literally, heading toward the cosmos as the first-ever promotional ambassador for South Korea’s space agency.
According to YG Entertainment on August 14 KST, BIGBANG has been appointed the inaugural ambassador for the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA). The group will help communicate South Korea’s vision and major policies for the future of its aerospace industry while serving as a bridge between the agency and the public.
The appointment marks the first time KASA has selected a promotional ambassador since the agency was launched in 2024.
With BIGBANG having built influence across generations and borders throughout its career, the partnership is expected to help broaden public interest and engagement in South Korea’s ambitions to become a major space power.
KASA stated, “We appointed BIGBANG as ambassadors to create new challenges for Korea’s aerospace future together with the public. Through various communication initiatives with BIGBANG, we hope to expand public interest and participation in aerospace.”
The partnership also carries a fitting connection to the group’s name. “Big Bang” refers to the theory describing the beginning and expansion of the universe, while the group’s upcoming 20th-anniversary world tour, 'BIGBANG 2026-2027 WORLD TOUR', similarly revolves around a cosmic theme.
After spending two decades expanding their own musical universe, BIGBANG will now connect that story with South Korea’s next chapter in space exploration.
The group will also participate in 'Dream Capsule', a public engagement initiative connected to major aerospace projects. As ambassadors, BIGBANG will serve as a communication link connecting the public with space.
The first phase begins with the opening of a special micro-website at 10 AM KST on August 14 to commemorate BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary. V.I.Ps around the world will be invited to submit memories and messages about their time with the group.
Those messages will then be transformed into coded images inspired by the historic Arecibo message and placed aboard the fifth Nuri launch vehicle for a journey into space—literally sending fans’ memories with BIGBANG beyond Earth.
Meanwhile, BIGBANG will release their new digital single 'BiiiG' on August 19 at 6 PM KST before embarking on their 20th-anniversary world tour.
'BIGBANG 2026-2027 WORLD TOUR' will begin with three concerts at Goyang Stadium from August 21 to 23. The group will then travel across North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia for a total of 33 shows in 19 cities around the world.
