ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo is winning over fans by revealing a candid, playful side of his military life through recently shared photos with his fellow soldiers. These snapshots show a refreshing contrast to his usual polished 'face genius' image on stage and screen.
On August 12, social media and online communities buzzed with excitement as images of Cha Eun Woo in uniform surfaced, capturing him standing shoulder to shoulder with his military comrades. Sporting a short haircut and a quirky character headband, he made exaggerated faces, including wide-open eyes and puckered lips, fully embracing a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Another photo showed Cha Eun Woo smiling brightly alongside his peers, giving off a natural and warm vibe that fans found endearing. Compared to his sharp and sleek appearance before enlistment, his current look reflects a more grounded and robust charm, showing his growth during service.
Cha Eun Woo enlisted on July 28, 2025, at the Nonsan Army Training Center in Chungnam. After completing basic training, he began serving in the Army Band. Early in his service, he was selected as a 'platoon leader trainee' and led the salute at the graduation ceremony, drawing public attention.
While serving, Cha Eun Woo also faced a tax investigation earlier this year involving a corporation founded by his mother. The National Tax Service claimed the corporation did not provide substantial services. However, his agency, Fantagio, stated the issue centers on legal interpretation and promised to clarify the situation through proper procedures.
In April, Cha Eun Woo addressed the controversy on social media, apologizing to fans and the public for any disappointment caused. He confirmed that he paid the taxes in full and respects the National Tax Service's procedures and decisions.
Currently serving in the Army Band, Cha Eun Woo is scheduled to be discharged on January 27, 2027, as he continues his military duties with a more relaxed and approachable image that fans warmly embrace.
